Prozac?
Question:
Just saw my neurologist today. I went there to discuss the possibility of ADDult. (I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome 11 yrs. ago). During this session we went from trying Adderal, (he was afraid it would intensify my tics) to Clonodine, (tried it 11 yrs. ago and it didn’t have much effect on suppressing the tics) to Prozac. I am currently taking Orap for the tourettes. After explaining my experiences with depression, anxiety, and inability to focus on the tasks at hand, (among other symptoms) he decided to try the Prozac. I will be taking 10mg/day for two weeks, increasing the amount to 20mg/day if I notice some improvement. I have an appointment to see the neurologist in two months . Question is: Is anyone here with ADD taking Prozac? And how is it working for you? This is a brief summary of all that transpired with my appointment today. But I hope you get the idea of how he ended up prescribing Prozac. Doug

I take it. It works great for depression, and that is not a small thing. It makes it easier to *deal* with ADD, because you have more energy (to take a random example) for driving back to the restaurant to get your wallet. But it didn’t really do anything for the specifically ADD stuff. — "Well, that was a thing of beauty." Xena: Warrior Princess

mU UNDERSTANDING OF pROZAC AND THE ssri FAMILY OF ANTI-DEPRESSANTS IS THAT THEY…sorry….is that they increase the amount of serotonin available in the brain. This makes you feel better…less anxious. I was on it a few tears back. For me though it didn’t help me focus or stay on task. I would prefer the anxiety …at least it motivates me to get off my ass once in a while. Of course your mileage may vary. — "Well, actually I prefer concentrationally challenged, if you don’t mind" www.cyber-mall.com/asad/ – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Just saw my neurologist today.
