It’s an American concept – psychiatrists in the UK are more pragmatic and, generally, less driven by classification systems than American psychiatrists. The issue is severity. > I >don’t know. Possibly refer you to a psychiatrist for a proper assessment so that you may get the care you need – you may not need medication and for your GP to simply give you a prescription for Prozac wouldn’t necessarily be right. >Also, about Tourette’s Syndrome- I’m really worried now, in case I do >have this. Try http://www.mentalhealth.com A bit (too) medical but everything is under one roof. >The other thing is that I’m not sure whether the OCD-like symptoms are >’caused’ by other things? Yes. That simple really. >Or is this just >stupid?
No. Gareth.

It is very hard to "see" the relationship between life events and ocd behavior unless you have experienced good times and bad times ocd wise. > Is it possible that I have them at the moment >because I am dissatisfied with my life, and feel quite lonely and bored, >and that they might disappear if I become happier? It is not stupid. If you learn to deal with your life in the bad state that you are in, you would most likely not have too much trouble with ocd when times are good. If you do not learn to deal with your life in bad times, and you find yourself in good times later on, you might still have ocd because you will be so afraid of losing the good times. — Take care of your "self". whatatrip rbol…@premier1.net
