Tourette's Info
Question:
I e-mailed hyperlinks. Just click on the blue. Please remind your friend that TS is a spectrum disorder (it occurs along a "spectrum" from very mild to severe) and not everything she reads will apply to her future son-in-law. The books and literature by necessity discuss the full range of the spectrum, even though each TS person is different. Some people are comforted by the reading and others may be frightened as they do not display all of the symptoms. Remind her that TS is not degenerative … just because she reads about a possible characteristic of TS doesn’t mean that her son-in-law will eventually develop that trait or behavior. The vast majority of cases of TS are very mild, and most even remain undiagnosed.
