Celexa

Question:

What do you think of Celexa?  I have heard of a couple of people with TS, ADHD, OCD, etc… taking it.  Are you finding it helpful?  What other drugs do you take in addition to it?  Let me know.  I am seeing my son’s neurologist next week and am thinking of suggesting it from the info I have gotten so far. I tried Celexa and it did nothing for me…not sure if I have TS or OCD, but it didn’t seem helpful at the 20mg-each-morning dosage I did for 2 months. Kendall — Kendall P. I had been getting great relief from depression with 20 mg of Celexa. But the depression is returning as bad as before.  I do not want to go anywhere or do anything.  Anyone else had this experience with Celexa.  It has only been about 3 months.  Once I got over the sleep half a day problem it was wonderful.  Now the thrill is gone. Please respond anybody.

I don’t know about the Celexa in particular, but I’ve had this happen with every anti-depressant I’ve ever been on. For me, it was a sign that the dosage needed to be upwardly adjusted, and that always helped. Of course you’ll need to talk to your doctor about it, but I’ve heard that this phenomenon is pretty common, especially in the early stages. I am on a medication and I am in the psychiatric field. These medications are very individualized. Try a different dose or talk to your doc about a different med. Those acting similar to the one that you are on (celexa) Some like Paxil, zoloft or prozac.
