rachel, my daughter has ocd and tourette syndrome. she has two ts email buddies who have oc behaviors. her ocd started during her toddler years…by the age of four she had a full- blown handwashing compulsion… email me and if you like and i’ll have her email you. she’s 12 going on 25. : ) yram

Rachel, I read your other post as well. SHIT!!! You are breaking my heart!!! I feel sssoooo frustratd for you. I so wish you lived in the States, especially on the east coast, because with all the shrinks I have been thru, I could direct you to the BEST we have. We have MANY outstanding OCD clinics that are designied for children and teens only. There are OUTSTANDING ADOLESCENT OCD programs at Duke University, Yale University Dartmouth College and at Dr. Edna Foa’s clinic at some hospital in Philly (GO USA!!!). As well, there are other top OCD programs at Mass General Hosp. in Boston, Mclean Hospital outside Boston and at BU hospital in Boston. I also know of a few top OCD shrinks in the NYC area. Is your father a corporate guy? For the sake of his very ill and suffering child, get transferred back to the good old USA? Can you come live with your brother for a short time while you can get some BETTER treatment for 30, 60 or 90 days?? do you parenst have the financial resources to have you and your Mom come over for 30-90 days of intensive BT/CBT at one of these top programs? Any relatives you can stay with? This FUCKING sufferring of yours has to STOP!!! I can feel your pain and know TOO WELL what that kind of tortureous sufferring is like. My OCD started at age 15. It is soooo much harder to deam with at your age because you have limited control over your life, you are going theu the teeen years where you already have enought to deal with and you are in a foreign country. I am sorry that I am not younger, so we could be "pen pals". I know it would help alot to correspond with someone your own age. I stumbled acros an OCD list of names, e-mail adys and phone #’s, many months ago. I seem to remember some teens on there. It was for finding an OCD pen pal. I am sorry thatI do not remember the URL but I am sure you could hunt it down with a search for "OCD pen pals". I think that is how I found it. I spent a summer in a suburb of London, in 1978, when I was 19. The people were great, the food sucked and the MD’s were worse. Any shrink who tells you that you do not have OCD, is an asshole and not worth going back to. I ran into some pathetic doctors (not shrinks) when I was there. I had to pay a LOT of $$$ to se a private MD. He was GREAT. but the socialized medicine system that employed these old and incometent doctors, was AWEFUL!!! England will always be BEHING the USA in ALL technology. That is just the way it is. And, that opinion has nothing to do with my feelings towards SG or Simon. I could sight MANY examples of how backward things were there in ‘78. Maybe they have caught up since. It sounds like the bottom line for you, Rachel, is to get BACK to the USA and see AMERICAN shrinks. Is that possible or impossible, even for a short period of time? Your health and happiness are 10 BILLION times more important than your schoolwork!!!! Fuck school and lets get you HEALTHY and FUCNTIONING and then you will do whatever you desire.
