Leslie – Connecticut TSA Weekend Camp

Question:

Great!!  Is thnis open to the public?   Maybe I’ll go!!!!!

Response:

Leslie, the CT Camp has changed date and location, and promises to be even better than ever.  KAT and/or I can provide you with a phone number – but I don’t know if Debbie wants her phone number posted to the internet?  This camp is affordable (although I don’t know the price, I do know that scholarships are available), and is a weekend where parents and children can come together.  KAT can tell you more … I’m going to try to drop in this year, as I will be driving my son up to his new school that day.  The facilities this year are supposed to be better than in the past.  The special thing about this camp (besides its founder :-) is the fact that it’s a weekend for children *and* their parents, where a fun time is had for all and many friendships are made. This is all the information I have … http://www.tsact.org/camp.html Dates: Sept. 8, 9, 10 Place: (new location this year) Camp Hazen YMCA campsite, Cedar Lake, in Chester, CT off Route 9. — Tourette Syndrome – Now What? http://members.home.net/tourettenowwhat Not every hill is worth dying for. I chose this hill today.

CT TSA Family Camp 2000 September 8,9,10 Camp Hazen YMCA Camp on the shores of Cedar Lake in Chester, CT. Swimming, kayaking and canoeing. Inline saking and skateboarding park, mountain biking, volleyball, softball, soccer and archery. Cabins with electricity, toilets and sinks. Shower houses with individual stalls near cabins. Package includes two nights accommodation and six meals served family style, and all activities. Campers must bring their own bedding/sleeping bags, skateboards, skates, equipment, if desired. Questions regarding registration process, email me directly and I will provide you with the contact information. Costs: since this event is subsidized by generous patrons of CT TSA, all instate (Connecticut) residents pay only $55.00 PER PERSON for the entire weekend, on a first come, first served basis. When subsidies run out, both instate and out of state campers will pay the same rate of $105.00 per person. This is a BARGAIN at twice the price, folks. Rates included 2 night’s lodging, all Camp Hazen activities and facilities, scheduled events by CT TSA. It does NOT include tipping for wait staff, however. Financial aid may be available for CT residents only and is based upon income. The application deadline has already passed, however, there may be space left, if you are interested. There  may also be space available for one day attendance, although this is not the ‘best’ way to participate in this event, since the ‘friendships’ begin the first night of arrival, and people who participate from start to finish get the most out of this event. This event is for kids with TS and TS+, AND their families, including siblings. Children MUST be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian. Events are planned for kids, parents, siblings together, as well as separately. In my experience over the past 6 years with this event, the average age of kids attending this event has been about 11 years old, although we’ve had them as young as 6 and as old as 18. Adults with TS are also invited to participate, and we have had a number who have come to participate, help out, and have fun. This format (the weekend, family camp), has proved extremely successful, and has served as the model for several other TSA camps around the nation. KAT in CT
