National Conference 10/31-11/3/96

Question:

For those of you planning to attend this event in Burbank, California, USA in the Fall, if you’re interested in trying to convene a public gathering of "on-line" friends, let me know. Perhaps we can arrange a face to face "chat" for anybody who’s interested in meeting the faces behind the names? For those of you not on TSA’s mailing list who would like a copy of the complete program for the conference, contact, via email Toure…@ix.netcom.com for a copy. If anyone wishes an abbreviated version of the schedul on line, I’ll post one, if you let me know, publicly. But I will not attempt to publish the entire schedule, which, by the way, looks excellent. Anticipated attendance:500-700 people from all over the world. Rates are excellent: Hilton Hotel special rates of $68/single or double per day. Special airfare discounts through specified Travel Agency in Bayside NY. Burbank is only 20 minutes from LA, Hollywood, and all that stuff, too! Al and I are participating, and would LOVE to meet as many of "us" as we can while there. KAT in CT

Response:

I think it would be a great idea that we arrange a room where we can all meet face-to-face and see each other for once, although you and me have already met KAT, but there are others we have not yet met. Also we should keep our eyes and ears open for good airline rates to LA as I have found that Boston to LA round trip is now $550. If anyone knows of any great deals, let me know.  The Southwest airline deal unfortunatly does not extend to the Northeast although Southwest Airlines is planning to open up service to Rhode Island this fall.  But they did not say exactly when they would open or how far in advance one could start making reservations or what the price would be. I wish the conference were just 2 months later, when I and my family will be in LA for the Rose Bowl Parade.  My older son, Chris, will be marching in it with the Pickerington High School Marching Tigers (percussion)! If anyone wants to try to get together that live out that way, give me a holler.  I will tell you the hotel we’ll be at, etc.   Bonnie Grimaldi  in Columbus, Ohio

Response:

Bob–I just made reservations through US Air between LA and Boston for $323.00 round trip–its for this summer–I did it through a travel agency–called American something or other–I called up 1-800-Cheapair….They have surplus tickets–last year I got great rate to Boston on TWA and flew "tea class"–I didn’t have to pedal the plane–but there was a "tea cup" on my ticket.

Response:

I’d love to get together with everyone.  I live in L.A. and I’ll be there for sure. Also, I wanted to say that I am reading Susan Hughes’ new book:  "What Makes Ryan Tick, a family’s triumph over Tourette Syndrome and ADHD". This is sort of a sequel to her first book, "Ryan."  The book is FABULOUS and I can’t put it down.  Susan is truly a hero and an incredible advocate for her son and all people with Tourette.  I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with this book and how much I am enjoying it.  Some of the things she went through were truly shocking.  I’ve known and seen many, many people with TS, and her son’s behavioral problems are the worst I have ever heard of.  Fortunately, though, he’s doing much better right now she tells me and he even got his first job (he’s 16 now)! Anyway, grab it when you can.  I’m loving it! Vicki

Airfares are on sale on the Internet now, according to today’s USA Today. Some really good deals that airlines are saying are necessary for them to sell unused tickets. Apparently, as much as 70% off regular rates. They change every Wednesday. "Only a few North American routes are included" and the ones they posted looked really good to me. For those of you hesitating to go to the National Conference because of airfares, this might be worth a look. The Web addresses are: Northwest publishes CyberSaver fares at   Http://www.nwa.com   To get USAIR E-Savers and American NETSAAVERS, add your name to an electronic mailing list via their Web sites (http://www.usair.com   &    http://www.amrcorp.com Don’t write to me. I’m just posting what I read in the newspaper!! KAT in CT
