I think it might be a good idea for nobody to write to Leslie at that address, until she somehow confirms it’s really her. The writing sounds like Leslie, but the headers look too much like Brad. If we don’t hear from Leslie about it soon, maybe someone who understands headers (I don’t) can take a look and tell us what they think. Blurt

I wrote to Leslie at her address on her website, and she wrote me back, confirming that it is really her posting with a new address. Thanks Blurt. 1 + 1 =’d 3 for me for a long list of reasons. I’m glad someone knows, ’cause I sure didn’t. *blush

Lara, You’re so cute when you blush!<smile> Don’t feel too bad…After reading yours and Blurt’s post I checked the headers on the message, even though headers are meaningless to me. I saw all these strange symbols with mysterious abbreviations and exclamation marks and words like "sewer output" and "master" and "slave" throughout the thing and thought "Geez…Lara’s right! What a weirdo this guy is! He’s encrypted all kinds of crazy stuff in here!"….. Then I checked some other message headers and figured out those were things from MY server, cuz they were on all the messages, including ones I sent…. jennybravo, Who has decided internet detective work is not my calling…. — In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends. Probably, but adding -no-spam is a simple thing for the e-mail-gathering-programs to pull out; I think enough people do similar things that they might already know that one. > use *this* address:
But this was the real mistake. They mine the body, not just the ‘from:’ and ‘reply-to:’ fields!!! Sorry, time to get yet another e-mail address, and this time, don’t put it in any machine readable format in your message (header or body). Good luck, Leslie. I’m unfortunate enough to be administrator for several domains, so my e-mail address is listed in places that I can’t control, so I fear spam will never stop arriving in my mailbox. When you establish a spamblock, it is best to place it after the @ rather than before. This is simply being kind to the host. When mail is sent, if the host and domain are correct, it has to lookup the user, and then send it to /dev/null or bounce the mail. This does take resources. If the domain or host are incorrect, it never really leaves the sender’s site, or if it does, is simply lost in the bitstream as no one picks it up. …if possible. Some news servers (such as my ISPs) don’t let you post with an invalid domain name…hence my spamblock. > using this – jmprice at calweb dot com
So many people do this…it’s easy to pull out programmatically…I’d say it’s insufficient. Cheers, Kendall — Kendall P.
