If you got 3 months time undetectable, , it’s almost a foregone conclusion you get the gold nugget.  I’m really happy for you, Lana! Now you can get on with your life. Just proves there’s still hope for those who have failed tx once or twice.  Thanks, Lana! Elmo http://community.webtv.net/elmoemerson/DocElmosHepFile

Two gold awards in one day.  That’s brilliant. Me?  I’m going for the yellow streak award as I start to feel scared of a biopsy that’s still four weeks away. — Paul Use the reply by email facility in your newsreader to send email

Response:

Paul, I’ve got my biopsy coming up soon too. Don’t worry about it. I’m not. I’ve had eye operations that you had to stay awake for. Knives cutting into my eye as I watched. THIS is something to worry about. A biopsy — no biggie. Well let’s see.  I’ve never had an eye op but I’ve had two lumberpunctures (had meningitis twice), survived thirteen years of drug abuse and associated withdrawals, slept rough in derelict caravans and shop doorways in winter, survived the mental confusion of being brought up in a cranky religious cult, and got through having an older brother who has severe Tourette’s.  You’re right.  A biopsy sounds like a piece of piss. — Paul Use the reply by email facility in your newsreader to send email

Response:

Paul, See? Piece of cake. I did the down-and-out junkie thing for years and then followed it with a down-and-out drunk routine for another few decades. I’ll bet we share a lot. I’ll let you know when my biopsy is scheduled. Maybe we’ll have the same day. We can try to get into telepathic communication during the drug interlude that accompanies the procedure. Hang tough. Popped by the lab today to pick up my three month post tx PCR results on my way to see the doctor. So far, it looks like I got the gold nugget and not the lump of coal! The doctor doesn’t want to see my face until March, when I will re-do PCR, LFTs, ferritin, etc. as well as the neurological testing. My most important reflexes are back, but I’m still missing those in my ankles. Interferon would not be an option for me in the future should backslide, so I hope the little buggers stay well away. I’ve still got the ophthalmologist appointment to discuss the results of all the tests I did there, so that should keep me from getting weaned prematurely from the medical profession. What a fight it’s been! Limping off the battlefield and licking my wounds has been my main activity these past three, but I guess it’s time to get on with life, so tally-ho and bon courage everybody! Lana PS If someone doesn’t get what I’m talking about, I’m still "undetectable!"
