ROTFLOL!!!! Folks, this person has ENTIRELY too much time on their hands (or paws. When I read this poster’s ravings, I’m never entirely sure. <g>)! I’m posting in response to this nonsense only because I want any new people to the group to know that this is total bull-flop. This poster surfaces occasionally under numerous screen names, and write these types of posts. While I’ve never met Dr. Packer in person, I’ve read both her web page and her posts on AST. From what I’ve read, Dr. Packer is a wonderful person who is willing to help others on both a professional and personal level. I’ve heard that efforts have been made to stop this person from posting this kind of trash, but it hasn’t been possible to do so. Such is the nature of the Internet, I suppose. 
At any rate, please ignore this – it’s total nonsense. Also, this will be the last time I post on this thread. A good rule of Internet life is, "Don’t Feed the Trolls." This is a much elaborated FAQ on "Dr." Leslie Packer: Leslie Packer has her young children post to an abusive kooks newsgroups for her own vengeful purposes. Check the record of alt.usenet.kooks !! This is a newsgroup where, for OVER a YEAR, Leslie Packer did has done more posting than to any legitimate newsgroup !! This mother of a suicidal child cares about YOU too (supposedly), that is if you have children with tourettes. She really only cares about herself, her prestige and her status. This Queen of the kooks is a hateful vengeful disgrace to thew psychology profession. She destroyed the sci.psychology.psychotherapy newsgroup because she could not cope with ideas there (ideas she could not refute). She supported a thug who made threats to stalk and physically assault someone she disagreed with. After these threats, she began what was essentailly a Peter Hood fan club to support this violent thug. Leslie Packer is a good friend of Peter Hood, to the point of declaring herself Peter Hood #2 and essentially starting a Peter Hood fan club. With that in mind the following about Leslie Packer should not be too surprising: Her credentials are questionable. Here is some that has been documented about Ms. Packer: I don’t want to discourage you, but for two FULL years someone named Leslie Packer with no graduate clinical degree set the norms for this group. While she has no graduate degree in Counseling or Clinical Psyc., she nonetheless (through loopholes in the licensing law of NY) has managed to secure a license as a practitioner. Other professionals have followed Leslie’s lead and several regular professionals in this newsgroup use the following norms of conduct.: (1) Attempt to pulverize all you do not like. (2) Stamp out "ad hominen"; replace it with getting "downright personal" — while at the same time declining all e-mail dialog. (3) Encourage any and all thugs and all methods (as long as not directly linked to spp or professionals there ) E.G.: Anonymous "FAQs" with personal information about opponents okay; voting for "kooks" in abuse newsgroups is okay; starting and using a special hate newsgroup to torment an opponent is okay. (4) Use aversive consequences over and over and harder and harder until enemies submit. (5) While endorsing (4), pretend one is being threatened if a post says that individuals behaving in a hostile manner will be "punished" (apparently "punished" is one of those "not okay words" — though this is odd for a so-called "psychologist"). (6) Collect all rumors and all allegations with or without any substantiation and encourage a madman to put them together on a web page and CD (7) Advocate nothing but aversive responses and welcome any and all such responses. (8) Mischaracterize and misrepresent everything (call each screen name an alias even if it is used with a well-known e-mail address and even if the posts are signed). (9) Gather "evidence" from everywhere, including support groups or e-mail. (10) Repeated negative things over and over, even if what you might be repeating is lies. (11) Go out of the newsgroup and contact whoever you might. (12) Harass ISPs by claiming things that didn’t happen and by exaggerating and misrepresenting things. Also harass ISPs by sending them anything or the same stuff over and over. (13) Appeal to your degrees and to authority whenever you can work it in !! (14) Harass opponents with repetitions of all this over and over. (15) "Milk" enforcing political correctness for all it’s worth (this helps mischaracterize and exaggerate things). There is one other rule (or norm) the "heavies" around here have used: #(16) Though you, the "psychologist", are an "authority" (supposedly) of a type, be sure to involve *OR pretend to involve* other "AUTHORITIES’ (usu. referred to as "the authorities") as "need" be. This accentuates ones own credibility and gives more punch to the slander, libel, or defamation of character you are engaging in. [ (Contacts with real doctors and with lawyers or with associations seems to be the best way to bolster the defensive, faltering ego.)] THESE ARE SOME OF THE MAIN NORMS OF THIS NEWSGROUP AND HAVE BEEN FOR 2 YEARS. Several psychologists who are regulars here followed Leslie’s lead. SORRY, BUT THIS NEWSGROUP IS A HATE GROUP. She is aided by a terribly libelous and unethical psychopathic hoodlum named Peter Hood, a "qualified counselor" out of Kent England, who remains essentially anonymous as he libels others. This man UNLIKE Brad has also used several aliases (where there was no signature or known e-mal address identifying him). Brad, in contrast, in almost 4 years has posted ONLY under a half dozen KNOWN e-mail addresses and has been the familiar "Cognitee" or signed his posts 90% or more !!!!
