Dead Links at ADD.About.com

Question:

Hello everyone Bob here. Just wanted to let you know that they have hired a new guide at About ADD and have deleted all of my old articles. If you have a web site with links to anything at add.about.com, the links are now dead. They will automatically go to the front page of the web site. We launched the site at http://www.additudemag.com today. Take a look. I would like to know what you would like to see on the site. How can I make it better? I’m going to be adding a lot of stuff to it, and I want to make it a quality resource. Thanks Bob

I don’t know if you’ve received my earlier letters. There’s still a bit of inaccurate information about tics and stimulants on the site. http://www.additudemag.com/experts.asp?DEPT_NO=901&ARTICLE_NO=53&ARCV=1 You do not specify the medication. I will assume it is either Ritalin, Dexedrine, or Adderall. Each of these medications can cause motor tics. What you describe is a motor tic. The medication should be discontinued. The tics should stop. Then, another medication should be considered. We do not continue on these medications when they cause a tic disorder. http://www.additudemag.com/experts.asp?DEPT_NO=901&ARTICLE_NO=47&ARCV=1 If your son has a tic disorder, it might be best not to use Ritalin, Dexedrine or Adderall but to consider one of the other non-stimulant medications. Please see http://members.home.net/tourettenowwhat/tics_and_psychostimulants.htm for links to updated journal-published research about the use of stimulants when a predisposition to tics is present.  If you are going to keep these articles on the site, I hope you’ll add the updated information to counteract the outdated information. — Tourette Syndrome – Now What? http://members.home.net/tourettenowwhat "Dr Laura" Schlessinger on Tourette’s http://members.home.net/tourettenowwhat/DrLauraTS.htm
