depression and tourettes
Question:
Hi Pam…my oldest son (now19) had a rough time with depression when he was just about the same age as your son. Although he is not my TSer (my daughter is) he does have extreme ADHD,ODD, and CD. His depression came and went for about 18 months, sometimes being so severe that I, like you were afraid to leave him alone for any length of time at all. I would suggest you read the article in the posted link provided by "Ipacker" on nutritional supplementation. I can speak only for myself and from my own personal experience, but a nutritional approach turned my son (and daughter’s) life around, I am so thankful for the relief/help it has provided us with!. I’ll keep your son in my prayers. Cheryl Pam <threeboys2m…@aol.com> wrote in message

This past summer my dau. (almost 13) became depressed. She also tried to mutilate herself. I hid her pills from her. I was afraid to leave her alone. I think her primary thing was dealing with her diagnosis of TS. She withdrew from her few friends and wouldn’t go anywhere. I stayed home all summer long with her. It was a very scarey period for me. Things are better for her right now, although her TS is waxing and she can’t go to school right now. Hi Pam. My 14yo daughter suffers from TS,OCD and major depression. We have changed her meds 3x. It is so frustrating waiting to see if theyll work. They will for a while-then she’ll get worse. She was in the hospital 1 wk in the summer to get her chemicals straight. You really need to talk to the dr. This age is hard enough as it is for them and I understand your fear completely. We have a nurse coming to the house once weekly to check my daughter and talk to her. Does your insurance cover that? It is to avoid hospitalization if possible and they keep close touch with her dr. Try to get some rest. It is exhausting watching, worrying and constantly checking your child. Talk to his dr. See if there are any other services available to your family and your son. Take care…Mo

My son is 15 and is going through a tough time. He suffers from depression and has been an med. for 2 yrs. He was doing very well until about 2 wks ago. He has been out of school for this time. I got him to go for an hour today. Has anyone else been through this. It was to the point that I was afraid to leave him alone. Pam Pam mother of 3 wonderful boys! wife to the best husband!
