Mother of girl w/Tourettes
Question:
How does a parent handle this and not be too demanding? How do you get her teachers to understand what it’s all about? ( I think she’s the only one in this school system with it.) I’ve sent various articles to be kept in her folder (at school) but I get the impression they’re not reading it. She has recently asked to join a support group. She knows she’s different then the so called "normal" kids, and seems to need some interaction with kids who have this – someone that can relate to her, I suppose. If any kids/teens read this, you are welcome to e-mail April, but please, keep it clean!
Response:
How old is your daughter? If you are having trouble with your school district, keep pushing.I had to turn very pushy to get what my son Stephen needed. He is 8. There is a group called ts-kids that is only kids writing back and forth to each other. If you want the address I will give it to you.
